Notes:
The 5 axis head consists of A and C axes, tilt and rotary motions. The C axis rotates through + 360 degrees of continuous motion from a given starting point and is driven by precision gearing. The A axis tilt mechanism is carried in and rotates with the C axis of motion. The A and C axes both tilt through + 100 degrees and is driven by a worm and worm wheel mechanism. This unique design with the travel ranges provide flexibility to position the spindle cutter to almost any position required to perform complex operations.
Spindle Carrier: The speed range is developed through a variable speed AC drive and motor, selectable in 1 RPM increments from 40 – 6000.
The spindle carrier and swivel housing are connected by gearing. Internal gearing and shaft bearings are lubricated by hydraulic oil. Controlled temperature oil is circulated through the carrier to maintain dimensional stability.
The spindle is supported by deep row angular contact ball bearings preloaded to withstand the axial and radial loads developed when using high helix cutters and when cutting steel or aluminum. The power drawbar provides 5,000 pounds of retention force.
The Spindle carrier has speeds remotely selected from the operators console.
Standard Electrical Equipment: All electrical motors and controls and their installation conform to the ANSI/NFPA 79 Electrical Standards for Metalworking Machine Tools.
A circuit breaker type disconnect switch is supplied at the point where the main electrical power enter the power panel. The customer is responsible for supplying the disconnect switch at the point where the main electrical service enters the power carriage.
The standard machine is arranged for 124 KVA of 460 volt, 3 phase, 60 hertz current. Optional machines are available with other configurations.
Numerical Control System – Acramatic A950: The machine is arranged with the Vickers – ESD ACRAMATIC 950 5 – axis contouring control. This is a self wired machine tool controller using integrated circuit electronics and a mini – computer.
